The S.C. Norfolk soccer program is affiliated with several youth soccer organizations. The program plays in the Boston Area Youth Soccer (BAYS) league. BAYS is a member of the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) and in turn, MYSA is a member of the United States Youth Soccer Association. Part of your registration fee covers membership dues and insurance fees to these organizations.

By belonging to each of these youth soccer groups, S.C. Norfolk receives certain benefits such as insurance for players and coaches, opportunities to play in organized tournaments, coaches clinics, coach license courses, and many other benefits. As part of belonging to these organizations, S.C. Norfolk also agrees to follow the guidelines set up by these organizations. Rules that we as a Board strongly support are the Codes of Conduct for players, coaches, and parents. Copies are available in the BAYS map books provided to each player, on this website, and they are also available at the BAYS website http://www.bays.org.

Games and Practices

BAYS offers two, 10 week seasons, one in the fall and one in the spring. Games are generally played on Saturdays and the standard time slots by age have girls in the morning and boys in the afternoon. The fall season will generally begin the first Saturday after Labor Day weekend. The Spring season will usually begin the second Saturday of April. Teams usually have 2 practices per week for approximately 1.5 hours. SC Norfolk is allocated practice days each season by Norfolk Recreation, but has usually received the fields on Mondays, Wednesday & Thursdays.

Tournaments

In the Fall for BAYS, there is no post season play in. The spring season is the "competitive" season in that there is the "MTOC" tournament for Div 1 and 2 teams and the Presidents Cup for division 3 teams if the coach chooses to enter the team. Individual coaches may also decide to enter their team in various tournaments throughout the season.

Ages

BAYS conducts competitions for Grades 3 through Grade 12.  S.C. Norfolk fields teams for Grades 3 through 6. The King Phillip Soccer Association (www.kpsoccer.org) offers BAYS programs to 7th and 8th grade students as well as high school students in the Spring.

The S.C. Norfolk age groups that are entered into the BAYS league are dependent on the number of children that register with S.C. Norfolk, and their ages. In some cases there is insufficient registration to enter teams in all age groups.
